Senior PHP Developer – Yii1 & Yii2 Systems Development

About the Role:

We are looking for a backend developer with real experience working across both Yii1 and Yii2 systems. You’ll be contributing to the development of a new Yii2-based backend while also maintaining and extending an active Yii1 application. The work includes secure API development, legacy database modeling, and feature development across both systems.

This role requires someone who writes clean, secure PHP code, communicates clearly and honestly, and is comfortable working with both structured and evolving product requirements. You should be disciplined in your approach to development, detail-oriented, and able to manage your own output responsibly in a remote team.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain features in an active Yii1 production application
• Build out new backend modules and services in a modern Yii2 environment
• Write secure, well-documented REST APIs, with proper input handling and error response structure
• Read, analyze, and modify legacy MySQL schemas, including adapting existing tables for new features
• Use Yii tools such as Gii to streamline common code generation tasks when appropriate
• Take ownership of your code: review your own work, test thoroughly, and write clearly
• Communicate project status and blockers early and with clarity
• Adapt quickly to project changes and dig into documentation or tools independently when needed

Technical Skills Required

• Strong hands-on experience with PHP (5.x – 8.x)
• Deep understanding of both Yii1 and Yii2 frameworks
• Core PHP with solid OOP knowledge
• Strong command of MySQL – schema planning, normalization, indexing, and migrations
• RESTful API development in a production setting
• Git version control (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket)
• Familiarity with Composer, autoloading, and namespacing
• Working knowledge of secure coding principles and patterns

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

• Zend Certified PHP Engineer (ZCE)
• MCA or related postgraduate degree in Computer Science
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or container-aware development
• Understanding of security risks like SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF—and how to prevent them

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From ₹150,000.00 per month
