Senior Operations Engineer

As a Senior Operations Engineer at our company based in Bangalore, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and reliability of our Java-based microservices platform. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading and owning critical incident response and resolution of high-severity outages - Driving root cause analysis and long-term reliability improvements - Architecting and maintaining observability solutions using tools like Datadog and Prometheus - Defining and tracking Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and guiding error budget planning - Collaborating with developers to onboard services with operational readiness - Eliminating manual toil through automation and process optimization - Mentoring junior/mid-level engineers, establishing best practices and standards - Participating in compliance and risk reviews for operational infrastructure To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: - 5+ years of experience in Operations, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering - Deep expertise in Java/Spring Boot microservices in production environments - Hands-on experience with technologies such as Kafka, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines - Strong background in observability and monitoring tools like Datadog, ELK, and OpenTelemetry - Familiarity with ITIL-aligned processes and a strong bias for DevOps and SRE principles - Proven leadership and mentorship skills with cross-functional influence Joining our team will give you the opportunity to take ownership of mission-critical production systems, lead reliability and automation efforts across distributed platforms, work with modern tools and cloud-native technologies, and be part of a collaborative culture that values mentorship and operational excellence.
