Senior Officer/Engineer - EHS

Role & responsibilities

1. Site Safety Oversight

• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across the project site.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Monitor high-risk activities to ensure full compliance with safety requirements.
• Development and implementation of HSE plan, HIRA and plans.

2. Safety Training & Awareness

• Conduct safety inductions and refresher sessions for staff, workers, and subcontractors.
• Organize and lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness programs.
• Develop training materials and deliver sessions on EHS topics.

3. Permit to Work (PTW) Management

• Review and approve PTWs for high-risk operations like hot work, confined space, and work at height.
• Ensure permit conditions are implemented and followed throughout the job duration.

4. Incident Management

• Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
• Prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities and stakeholders.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain and verify EHS records, registers, inspection checklists, and compliance documents.
• Prepare reports for internal audits, external inspections, and client submissions.
• Assist in implementation of ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001) and corporate safety systems.

6. Emergency Preparedness

• Oversee the readiness of emergency systems such as fire extinguishers, evacuation plans, alarms, and first-aid.
• Plan and execute emergency response drills in coordination with site teams.

7. Coordination & Supervision

• Supervise Junior Safety Officers and guide them in field activities.
• Coordinate with engineering, execution, and contractor teams for seamless safety integration.
• Liaise with client safety teams and statutory bodies during inspections or audits.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering with a recognized safety qualification (e.g., ADIS, PDIS, NEBOSH, or equivalent).

Experience

• 3-6 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects.
• High rise building and mivan experience is must.

Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of construction hazards, legal EHS requirements, and permit systems.
• Familiarity with applicable safety standards and best practices.

Skills

• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Good analytical and report-writing abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office and safety documentation.
