Senior Mechanical Package Engineer

A Mechanical Package Engineer with 10+ years of experience is responsible for preparing and managing technical packages for mechanical equipment, including specifications, data sheets, and vendor document reviews. Key duties include performing technical bid evaluations, creating material requisitions, and ensuring equipment designs comply with project and industry standards like ASME and API. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, often with a background in either static & rotating equipment and experience in an EPC/EPCM environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Package development

  : Prepare and manage technical packages, including material requisitions for equipment like pressure vessels, column, pumps, and heat exchangers.

• Technical evaluations

  : Conduct technical bid evaluations (TBEs) to assess vendor proposals against project specifications.

• Vendor document review

  : Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.

• Design and analysis

  : Apply engineering principles to design mechanical components and systems, often involving CAD software and performing technical calculations and simulations.

• Project support

  : Provide technical support during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.

• Documentation

  : Prepare detailed technical documentation, including mechanical equipment lists, specifications, reports, and data logs.

• Cross-functional collaboration

  : Work with other engineering disciplines (electrical, software), project managers, and procurement teams to ensure integrated and successful project execution.

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of static and/or rotating equipment design, including relevant codes and standards like ASME (Section VIII) and API (610/617
• Familiarity with engineering software such as PV Elite, Compress, or CAD tools like AutoCAd /SolidWorks is often required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communicator with ability to coordinate across disciplines and with clients/vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
