Overview
As the Material Ledger Lead, this role will lead the financial oversight of manufacturing operations by managing inventory valuations, analyzing material price variances, monitoring and reporting production waste, and driving corrective actions and costing initiatives across supply chain and process manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Data Management:
- Oversee the consolidation, collection, and validation of financial data for material ledger variances and waste reporting.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity to support reliable reporting and analysis of material and manufacturing overheads variances across the categories.
- Support on New Product Development costings
- Coordinate updates for quarterly standard costing estimates (SCEs)
- Bill-of-Material management through overseeing Analysts in completing continuous monitoring of actual consumption vs standard BOMs, analyzing deviations and adherence to consumption of quantities per the Bill-of-Material and closely monitor production alternatives to align to R&D recipes
Reporting and Analysis:
- Coordinate analysis of process orders at site level and build dashboards for management of key performance indicators including but not limited to daily clearing of COGIs, timeous process orders settlement and TECO, timely update of SCEs, period end close adherence
- Provide insights on significant/abnormal variances and ensure corrective actions are executed to minimize Income Statement impact
- Analyze financial data to provide insights into business performance and trends, identify key opportunities and risks in delivering the AOP.
- Work closely with Site Leads and Make Business Partners in tracking of waste reduction, challenging team on execution of action plans vs AOP
- Supporting the Productivity Team on the calculation and capturing of E2E Waste productivity in PowerSteering, tracking gap closure
- Oversee inventory management process at Site to ensure accuracy of stock quantities, work closely with Controls teams on stock at risk and aged stock provisions, ensuring accurate postings in line with Inventory policy
- Support in development of Inventory Policies to update changes resulting from PGT and Process Manufacturing implementation
Forecasting and Budgeting:
- Collaborate with Make Finance and Global Procurement on the AOP budget including the expected phasing of material price and manufacturing overheads variances in the Income Statement based on the material inflation, volume mix and activity rates
- Create financial models to support the forecasting process to anticipate the flow of variances into the Income Statement.
Process Improvement:
- Lead the redesign of Site reporting post the PGT and Process Manufacturing implementation. Work closely with PGT project team to develop a change plan for Make to ensure minimal disruption to operational activities and reporting during hyper-care and post the project period
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve reporting processes.
- Implement best practices for data analysis and reporting across the Sites and category to streamline processes through lift & shift and benchmarking.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their reporting and analytics needs.
- Present financial information to management and other stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
Qualifications
Senior Finance Professional FMCG Sector
- A seasoned finance leader with 9 11 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, including 5+ years in finance management. Holds a postgraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance; CA/CIMA/CPA qualification preferred.
Core Competencies
- Financial Systems Expertise: Proficient in SAP, BOBJ, Essbase, Tableau, Mosiac and Advanced Excel. Strong command of financial reporting tools and multi-dimensional databases.
- Management Reporting & Planning: Deep technical knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking processes.
