Electrical Design Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Management & Coordination

• Lead and manage all electrical design activities from concept through detailed design and IFC stages.
• Prepare and review electrical design briefs, design criteria, and master planning layouts for developments.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (architecture, structure, and MEP teams) to ensure design alignment with overall project objectives.
• Ensure optimal space planning for electrical infrastructure including substations, DG yards, UPS rooms, panels, and vertical distribution shafts.

2. Consultant Management

• Review, comment, and approve electrical design drawings, load calculations, single line diagrams, and technical submissions prepared by MEP consultants.
• Ensure design consultants deliverables are as per agreed timelines, scope, and quality expectations.
• Conduct periodic design review meetings and issue design review reports.
• Support in the selection and appointment of design consultants and specialist design agencies. Support in reviewing and consolidating design submissions received from external MEP consultants.
• Check compliance of consultant designs with project requirements, design brief, and statutory standards.
• Track design deliverables and ensure timely review, comments, and revisions.
• Participate in internal and external design coordination meetings.

3. Technical Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all designs comply with

  national / international standards

  such as IS, IEC, NBC, and other local electricity authority requirements.
• Verify adequacy of load distribution, redundancy, and electrical network reliability, especially for data centre and mixed-use developments.
• Review and validate electrical system studies short-circuit, load flow, protection coordination, and energy optimization.

4. Inter-department Coordination

• Liaise with architectural and structural teams for service coordination and integrated design solutions.
• Support & coordinate with statutory bodies and utility providers for power supply planning, approvals, and metering schemes.
• Preparing design specifications , reviewing vendor Shop drawings & technical submissions.

5. Quality Assurance & documentation

• Maintain standard templates, checklists, and design review formats for electrical systems.
• Ensure documentation, drawing control, and design change management is properly maintained throughout the project cycle.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

Experience:

• 10–15 years

  of relevant experience in electrical design management, preferably with

  Real estate company or MEP Design consultancy.

• Proven experience in

  Data Centre

  ,

  Mixed-Use

  , or

  Large Residential

  developments.
• Strong exposure to LV, MV, and HV systems, power distribution, lighting, earthing, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Hands-on familiarity with design software such as

  AutoCAD, ETAP, Dialux, Revit (preferred)

  .

Technical Knowledge:

• Thorough understanding of

  Indian Electricity Rules, IS Codes, NBC

  , and

  local electricity board norms

  .
• Familiarity with

  international standards

  (IEC, IEEE, NFPA) is desirable.
