Job Description

Afcons Infrastructure Limited is an Indian multinational construction and engineering company based in Mumbai. The company provides infrastructure services and is involved in the construction of infrastructure projects such as viaducts, flyovers, metros, bridges, pipelines, roads, ports, barrages, oil and gas projects etc.

Roles and Responsibilities 01

Finalizing the key design parameters based on data analysis, applicable standards & prepare design basis
reports for all applicable components of project. Design of Intake structures like sizing calculations, preparation of GA drawings, pump sizing calculations like flow & head requirements, motor ratings, system head curves, selection of pumps etc. Detailed design for water transmission lines like design basis reports, hydraulic design, economic pipe size calculations, alignment plans & longitudinal sections, structural design of pipeline, pipeline support spacing calculations, thrust block sizing calculations, surge analysis etc. Basic & detailed engineering of Water treatment plants (WTP) like process & unit sizing calculations, hydraulic design calculations, P&ID, hydraulic flow diagram, layout plan, develop GA drawings of all the

units in WTP, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, interplant piping layout, preparation of data
sheets & technical specifications of all the mechanical equipment. Detailed sizing calculations for water retaining structures like raw water reservoirs (RWR) & clear water reservoirs (CWR), overhead service reservoirs (OHSR) etc. Hydraulic design of water distribution networks using softwares like WaterGEMS, EPANET etc. Hydraulic capacity analysis & conditional assessment of existing water distribution networks Integration of existing and proposed system components Layout/ alignment plans & longitudinal section of water distribution networks Hydraulic design calculations of Sewer Collection networks using SewerGEMS software Detailed design of Sewage Pumping Stations (SPS) like preparation of GA drawings, pump sizing calculations like flow & head requirements, motor ratings, system head curves, selection of pumps etc. Basic & detailed engineering of Sewarge treatment plants (STP) like process & unit sizing calculations, hydraulic design calculations, P&ID, hydraulic flow diagram, layout plan, develop GA drawings of all the units in STP, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, interplant piping layout, preparation of data sheets & technical specifications of all the mechanical equipment. Technical review of vendor drawings & data sheets.

Roles and Responsibilities 02

Detailed Design

Detailed design / review of designs provided by external consultant.
Assisting Design Manager for
a) Developing and carrying out construction stage design checks.
b) Preparing the construction sequence to be adopted during construction in discussion with Team leader and Planning Team.
Preparation and review of submittals such as method statements and take responsibility of all design issues and ensure successful delivery of the projects.

Design Submission and review of Design for Approval / Monitoring Work progress

Assisting Design Manager for
a) Preparing design and issuing good for construction (GFC) document.
b) Ensuring completion of design review prior to the commencement of construction process."
Discussing design queries with Design Manager before submission for client approval during construction stage.

Key Objective of the Job Position

Developing cost-effective design layouts based on construction requirements and specifications adhering to established design guidelines and procedures.
Performing civil design analysis and calculations as per project requirements, determining construction cost and material estimates based on civil designs.
Performing field surveys and investigations to prepare engineering drawings.
Reviewing Project Plan and determining the design feasibility and constraints, using latest software and technologies to develop effective designs; and managing design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.

Education Qualifications

Educational Essential: MTech-Structures
Educational Desirable: NA

Computer Software Proficiency

AutoCAD, Bentley Water Gems, Bentley Sewer Gems, StormCad

Experience Range

18-25 years experience in Drinking Water Distribution Project, Water Treatment Plant, Sewarge Treatment Plant, Water Networking etc .

Work Environment

Primarily work in office environments, but also sometimes travel to project sites. May require working extended hours. Should be able to manage stress & turbulent situations.
