Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer- zLinux

The Mainframe Systems Programmer is responsible for providing support for ongoing projects involving the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and system software. This role also involves maintenance and debugging of systems software, coordination of IOGEN work for new MF hardware, researching and evaluating new software and hardware products, assisting team members with technical questions and problem resolution, and monitoring and tuning systems software. The ideal candidate should possess functional knowledge of z/OS components and detailed knowledge of support products such as tape management, scheduling, security, and monitoring systems. Key responsibilities include providing formal mentorship, owning high complexity assignments, owning moderate complexity assignments, providing oversight/review for low complexity assignments, leading self and others, serving as a Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) or specialist, understanding how the big picture aligns with Ensono's strategy, offering thought leadership within GTS, providing Technical Architect storage support for hardware and software solutions, communicating effectively in client meetings and new business deals, collaborating with hardware and software vendors on new solutions, reviewing and analyzing client software and requirements to determine cost-effective solutions, enhancing the performance of others through mentoring, designing automated monitoring techniques for problem identification and prevention, providing and documenting problem analysis, resolution, and prevention, and designing procedures and best practices. While this position does not have direct reports, the Mainframe Systems Programmer may mentor less experienced associates in the role.
