The Mainframe Systems Programmer plays a crucial role in providing support for ongoing projects involving the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other system software. This position also entails maintenance and debugging of systems software, as well as coordination and IOGEN work for new MF hardware. The Mainframe Systems Programmer is responsible for researching and evaluating new software and hardware products, assisting team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution, and monitoring and tuning systems software. The role requires functional knowledge and utilization of z/OS components, along with detailed knowledge of support products such as tape management, scheduling, security, and monitoring systems. Duties and responsibilities of the Mainframe Systems Programmer include consistently providing proven, formal mentorship, taking ownership of high complexity assignments, leading moderate complexity assignments, and providing oversight/review for low complexity assignments. The individual must demonstrate the ability to lead self and others, establish themselves as a Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) or specialist, and understand how their work aligns with Ensono's overall strategy. Furthermore, the Mainframe Systems Programmer is expected to provide thought leadership within the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) team, offer technical architecture support for hardware and software solutions, possess strong communication skills for client meetings and business deals, and collaborate directly with hardware and software vendors on new solutions. Additionally, the Mainframe Systems Programmer will review and analyze current client software and requirements to determine the most cost-effective and standard software solution to be included in business proposals. The role involves enhancing the performance of others through mentoring and guidance, designing automated monitoring techniques for problem identification and prevention, and providing and documenting problem analysis, resolution, and prevention by developing procedures and best practice techniques. Although this position does not have direct reports, the Mainframe Systems Programmer may mentor less experienced associates in the role. Travel requirements may vary based on field demands.
