Role Overview

Senior Simulation Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Build and run 1-D engine performance simulations to assess metrics such as WOT torque and BSFC

• Model alternate fuels (e.g., CNG, E85) and their behavior in the engine

• Develop predictive combustion models to simulate emissions and combustion dynamics

• Simulate after-treatment systems for both diesel and gasoline engines

• Analyze engine test data, compare with simulation output, and explain any discrepancies

• Publish detailed simulation reports and present performance findings to stakeholders

• Set performance targets and propose new technologies or methods to improve simulation fidelity

• Continuously improve simulation capability by implementing new simulation techniques / processes

• Work cross-functionally with test engineers, design teams, and product development to support engine-level innovations

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering discipline (Masters preferred)

• Proven experience (typically 48 years) in engine / powertrain performance simulation

• Strong experience with 1D simulation tools (e.g., GT-Suite, AVL Boost)

• Demonstrated expertise in alternate fuel modeling (especially CNG, ethanol)

• Skilled in predictive combustion modeling and emissions simulation

• Experience in validating simulation models using real test data (engine test data)

• Familiarity with after-treatment system modeling (diesel and gasoline)

• Good analytical and technical writing skills
