Senior Developer - Power BI & Analytics

Purpose: This role is crucial with global footprint in ensuring seamless connectivity between a variety of machines located in different production units globally and our digital platform, facilitating the collection, transfer, and integration of data for real-time analysis and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in industrial automation, IoT (Internet of Things), especially machine data connectivity, along with a passion for improving machine performance. As a Machine Data Connectivity (MDC) Expert, you will work with product owner and will be responsible for critical aspects of digital platform. You will own and drive the best practices with other MDC expert in a team to connect different machines through sensors/communication protocols (like OPCUA, MQTT, etc.) to a digital platform, enabling data integrity and facilitating real-time insights.

Main Responsibilities:

The Senior Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports for Operations organization in Sandvik Coromant. This includes transforming raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports, primarily using Microsoft Power BI.

Key Competencies:

• Create and manage relationships in Power BI Desktop

• Create custom columns using DAX

• Implement row and object level security for different user groups as per the Functional Specifications

• Manage workspaces in Power BI for different environments

• Work with Databricks Notebooks for data processing and transformations

• Manage and work with gateways, scheduling refresh, and creating reports and dashboards

• Build and optimize tables for scalable data storage

• Collaborate with stakeholders from Productions Units to gather requirements

• Create and manage Databricks clusters for various workloads

• Created Linked Services for both Source and Destination Datasets

• Dashboard and Report Development (restricted to Power Bi scope)

• Data Collection & Integration (restricted to Power Bi scope)

• Data Modelling (restricted to Power Bi scope)

• Design and implement data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory

• Develop ETL processes for data movement and transformation in ADF

• Document support processes and contribute to troubleshooting guides

• Documentation pertaining to Power BI reports

• Manage data ingestion using Databricks Auto Loader and streaming capabilities

• Optimize Spark jobs for performance and cost efficiency in Databricks

• Perform data cleansing, wrangling, and transformations using PySpark or SQL in Databricks

• Provide training and support to end users for Azure Data Factory

• Scheduling and orchestrating data pipelines using Databricks Workflows (Jobs)

• Set up monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue identification

• Training and support to users on Power BI reports

• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline failures and connectivity issues

• Use Unity Catalog in Databricks for governance, lineage, permissions, and secure data access

Your Profile:

• 5 to 10 years of experience in data analysis, dashboard creation, and report automation using Power BI
• Master or bachelor s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or similar fields
• Excellent understanding of joints using tables from multiple data sources.

• Experience in integrating data sources such as SQL Server, ADF, Excel, and others into Power BI

• Experience in creating Tabular, Drill Down, Drill Through, Parameterized, Document Map, and Sub-Reports in Power BI and SSRS

• Extensive hands-on experience in writing SQL scripts

• Extensive knowledge in writing Stored Procedures, Functions, and Views

• Good at configuring Linked Services, Integration Runtime, and Datasets

• Good at writing DAX expressions as per requirements

• Good experience in creating ETL packages for various requirements.

• Good exposure to Workspaces, Subscriptions, and sharing concepts in Power BI Service

• Hands-on experience in developing Power BI reports using Power BI Desktop

• Have worked in Agile methodology with good exposure to Agile practices

• Implemented Row Level Security to restrict data access based on role or account

• Integrate Azure Data Factory pipelines with Databricks notebooks for ETL workflows

• Knowledge of Databricks SQL for analytics and reporting

• Skillful in creating apps and publishing dashboards and reports in Power BI

• Strong experience in writing DAX expressions and building relationships while developing Tabular Models and Multidimensional Cubes using SSAS

• Strong knowledge of ETL concepts, loops, containers, and reporting tools

• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization
