Senior Design Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conceptualization:

  Design innovative material handling solutions and grippers to meet project requirements.

• Designing:

  Use 3D and 2D design software to create material handling equipment and components.

• Detailed Drawings:

  Prepare detailed part drawings, including dimensional tolerances, surface finishes, heat treatments, and geometrical tolerances.

• Layouts & Simulation:

  Create 2D layouts and simulate material handling systems to ensure design feasibility.

• Calculations:

  Perform calculations based on the strength of materials principles and engineering software to verify design stability.

• Component Selection:

  Select appropriate bought-out components and pneumatic components (e.g., Festo, SMC) for the designed systems.

• Bill of Materials:

  Prepare error-free bills of materials (BOM) with accurate item numbers, quantities, and specifications.

• ERP Entries:

  Ensure all necessary entries are made in the ERP system related to the design and materials.

• Collaboration & Approval:

  Discuss design concepts in detail with the Design Manager, participate in customer discussions, and ensure customer feedback and suggestions are implemented.

• Support to Assembly Team:

  Provide necessary support to the assembly team to ensure smooth implementation of designs.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Design Software:

  Hands-on experience with 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and AutoCAD.

• Communication Skills:

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration and customer interaction.

• Problem-Solving:

  Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative concepts.

• Technical Proficiency:

  Strong computer and mathematical skills for precise design and calculations.

• Industry Experience:

  Experience in designing industry-specific products, material handling systems, and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs).

• Adaptability:

  Flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to changes in design or project scope.

• Teamwork:

  Ability to work effectively within a team environment and contribute positively to team goals.

• Self-Motivated:

  Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and use initiative when needed.

Education & Experience:

• Education:

  BE/ME in Mechanical or Production Engineering. A Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering is acceptable if supported by relevant experience.

• Experience:

  6 to 9 years of experience in the relevant field of mechanical design, preferably in material handling systems or industrial equipment.
