Senior Database Administrator

As an experienced candidate with 8+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration, your role will involve optimizing database queries to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval, designing and implementing effective indexing strategies, and monitoring slow or inefficient queries to recommend best practices for rewriting or re-architecting queries. You will also be responsible for scheduling and executing regular maintenance tasks, implementing automated monitoring systems for health monitoring, and proactively resolving database issues to ensure smooth operations. Key Responsibilities: - Optimize database queries for efficient data retrieval, especially for complex or high-volume operations. - Design and implement effective indexing strategies to enhance query execution times and overall database performance. - Monitor and profile slow or inefficient queries, recommending best practices for query optimization. - Schedule and execute regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, consistency checks, and index rebuilding. - Implement automated monitoring systems to track database performance and critical parameters. - Diagnose and resolve database issues proactively to prevent impact on users or operations. - Implement and manage database clustering, replication, and failover strategies for high availability and disaster recovery. - Monitor resource consumption, plan for growth, and optimize resource usage to reduce operational costs. - Ensure adherence to database licensing models and optimize cloud database spend for cost management. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field. - Microsoft SQL certifications (MTA Database, MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) will be an advantage.
