Position Overview
The Senior Chemist will play a pivotal role in developing and formulating innovative skin care, cosmetics, and oral care products that align with HCP Wellness s commitment to quality and sustainability This position requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and leadership to drive product development from concept to commercialization while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
Key Responsibilities
Lead the formulation, development, and testing of new skin care, cosmetics, and oral care products, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and market trends Conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product safety, efficacy, and shelf-life Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless product development and manufacturing processes Optimize formulations for cost-effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability without compromising quality Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in cosmetic and oral care chemistry to drive innovation Mentor and guide junior chemists, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, processes, and test results in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory standards
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field PhD in a relevant field is a plus
Certifications
Certification in Cosmetic Science (eg from the Society of Cosmetic Chemists) is preferred but not required Training in GMP, ISO standards, or regulatory compliance is a plus
Hard Skills
Expertise in cosmetic and oral care product formulation, including emulsions, gels, creams, and suspensions Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, and viscosity testing Strong knowledge of raw materials, surfactants, emulsifiers, and active ingredients used in skin care and oral care products Familiarity with regulatory requirements (eg FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulation, BIS standards) Experience with scale-up processes from lab to production

Preferred Experience
5+ years of experience in product formulation and development within the skin care, cosmetics, or oral care industry Proven track record of successfully launching products from concept to market Experience in private label manufacturing is highly desirable Familiarity with sustainable and natural ingredient sourcing is a plus
