Senior Associate – Legal & Compliance

Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage bankruptcy portfolio including paperwork, status reports and documentationAssist in regulatory audit and exam preparation and responsesConsumer complaints handling process, review of consumer complaints, draft complaints responses for direct and regulatory complaints.Ensure the company's practices adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, especially those pertaining to credit lending and consumer finance. Stay updated on legislative changes and advise the company accordingly.Review the contracts, credit agreements, loan documents, and other legal materials to ensure they comply with applicable laws and mitigate risks.Provide support to partners in managing litigation matters, including working with internal counsel, preparing legal documents.Identify legal risks associated with business activities and develop strategies to mitigate such risks. Provide proactive legal solutions to support business objectives.Develop, review, and update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current laws and industry best practices.Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to inform decision-making and stay abreast of legal trends affecting the credit lending industryEnsure proper documentation and record-keeping of all legal matters. Prepare reports and legal briefs for senior management.Conduct account level reviews and root cause analysis related to consumer inquiries and business-based mattersConduct audit and periodic reviews of department procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulationsEnsures appropriate departmental compliance training is conducted and assists with preparation of in tracking analysis development and reportingAssist in the review and preparation of reports regarding compliance operations and progress, quarterly and annual meeting materialsPerforms a variety of duties as required by the position and/or assignedWorking knowledge of consumer laws and regulationsQualification & Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) Or A Masters Degree in Law (LLM) or relevant certifications3-7 years of post-qualification legal experience within the financial services sector, particularly in credit lending, consumer finance, or a related area.Regulatory Compliance experience is requiredDemonstrated reasoning and critical thinking skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in order to make recommendations to managementMust maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in performing daily dutiesProject management experience is necessary to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with time constraintsExceptional legal drafting and negotiation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent research and communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work under pressure.High level of integrity and professional ethics.Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), Adobe, and possess other computer-related skillsStrategic thinking with the ability to provide practical solutions.Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Demonstrate leadership capability in mentoring and guiding junior legal professionals.Nice to Have:Consumer Lending Experience preferredCertified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification is a plus but not required
