Senior AI/ML Data Scientist - Contractor in USD

For an international project in Chennai, we are urgently looking for a Full Remote Senior Data Scientist.

We are looking for a motivated contractor. Candidates need to be fluent in English.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Audit existing intranet infrastructure and data systems;
• Design AI architecture (e.g., local LLM integration, vector database, API design);
• Integrate existing LLMs suitable for solutions;
• Develop secure connectors to internal data repositories (SharePoint, document servers, etc.);
• Create user-facing interfaces or chatbots embedded in the intranet;
• Implement access control and data governance mechanisms;
• Validate AI model outputs for accuracy, bias, and relevance;
• Optimize model performance and latency for intranet use;
• Deploy solution within the intranet environment;
• Deliver ongoing maintenance;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master degree;
• 8+ years in AI/ML engineering, including 2+ years in a senior/lead role;
• Strong expertise in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn);
• Proven experience with FastAPI for serving ML/GenAI APIs;
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI/LLMs (Hugging Face, LangChain and LangGraph, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI, etc.);
• Strong background in MLOps (CI/CD, ML pipelines, model registries, monitoring);
• Cloud expertise in Azure or GCP;
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration skills;
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, ChromaDB, FAISS, Azure AI Search, OpenSearch);
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and evaluation frameworks;
• Prior experience building enterprise GenAI assistants, chatbots, or knowledge retrieval systems;
• Contributions to open-source projects in AI/ML/GenAI;
• Fluent in English;
