Senior Administrator - Business Support

Responsibilities

• Edits project deliverable documents prepared by subject matter experts from various technical disciplines to the agreed upon level (i.e., copy edit, stylistic edit, proofread) to improve readability, promote consistency, and manage risk
• Communicates with authors and reviewers to establish project needs; communicates with clients to respond to feedback on draft documents
• Develops and maintains project style sheets to be approved by the client and used by the project team, which may include authors from WSP, other consultants, and the client
• Assists in the development and maintenance of internal writing style guides and other procedure and guideline documents
• It involves editing text to correct grammar, punctuation, usage, and consistency. “Stylistic editing” is more about editing for voice and tone. “Proofreading” involves checking for typos and other errors in a near-final document. Most of our work is on the first two, though a successful candidate needs to be proficient at all three
  

Qualifications

• University degree and 10 years of technical writing and/or editing experience
• Understanding of technical writing conventions and familiarity with writing guidance such as The Chicago Manual of Style
• Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow directions and work independently
• Experience working in science and/or engineering fields is an asset
• Proficient Microsoft Office suite; SharePoint experience is an asset
