Senior Accountant

Role Overview: As a Senior Accountant at House of Spices Inc., you will be responsible for carrying out senior accountant duties on a professional level. You will work closely with Senior Management and staff to support designated geographic regions, ensuring the smooth functioning of accounting processes in compliance with USA and Canada - GAAP standards. Your role will involve reviewing GL entries, reconciling monthly accounting entries, closing transactions monthly, preparing monthly balance sheet and income statement, performing variance analyses, and maintaining balance sheet account reconciliations. Additionally, you will oversee the accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses, reconcile bank accounts, provide assistance to outside auditors during annual audits, analyze product costs, inventories, cost reduction opportunities, and manufacturing variances, assist in budget preparation, and ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Your role will require advanced excel skills to excel in your responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: - Review GL entries, reconcile monthly accounting entries, and close transactions monthly - Prepare monthly balance sheet, income statement, and perform variance analyses - Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies - Oversee accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses - Reconcile bank accounts and provide assistance to outside auditors during annual audits - Analyze product costs, inventories, cost reduction opportunities, and manufacturing variances - Assist in budget preparation and ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes - Possess advanced excel skills Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance or equivalent qualification - Eight years of related experience - Reliable, detail-oriented with excellent communication and people skills - Proficient in problem-solving and working in a team with a result-driven approach - Experience working in a start-up environment Additional Company Details: The position of Senior Accountant at House of Spices Inc. does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but involves serving as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. The role operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment. The physical demands include talking or hearing, close vision, and the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday through Friday, 7:30 pm to 4:30 am, with occasional evening and weekend work as job duties demand.
