Security Specialist-Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• For entrances, perimeters, warehouses, docks, and critical production areas.
• Select camera types appropriate to the scene: Dome, Bullet, PTZ, Fisheye/360, Thermal, and choose lenses (fixed/varifocal), WDR, IR/whitelight, IP/IK ratings.
• Hardware & Network Readiness
• Prepare BOM and basic cost estimates; calculate PoE budgets (802.3af/at/bt), switching needs, and cabling routes.
• Assist with NVR/VMS topology, storage sizing (codec, bitrate, fps, retention days), and VLAN/IP addressing.
• Installation & Commissioning
• Support onsite installation QA: bracket anchoring, labeling, weatherproofing, grounding, and neatness.
• Perform firsttime configuration: IP addressing, firmware updates, ONVIF checks, NTP time sync; adjust focus/exposure/WDR/IR.
• Testing, Documentation & Handover
• Execute SAT/UAT scripts (coverage walktests, trigger events, failover scenarios) and record results.
• Maintain asbuilt drawings, IP inventories, port maps, storage calculators, SOPs, and checklists.
• Operations & Troubleshooting
• Run routine health checks; monitor camera uptime, disk/RAID status, and VMS alerts; assist with evidence export and chainofcustody.
• Investigate issues (blur, noise, latency, false/late alarms) and recommend fixes (bitrate/fps tweaks, analytics rules, lighting).

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of CCTV hardware, camera specifications, and VMS/NVR platforms.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD/Visio, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, PoE, VLANs).
• Exposure to storage planning (H.264/H.265, RAID, retention policies).
• Soft Skills:
• Strong learning and analytical ability; able to quickly understand business system processes.
• Excellent communication and service orientation; skilled in listening to user needs and assisting in problem resolution.
