Scientist III/Scientist IV, Synthetics (Contract)

Role Overview: As a Scientist III/IV at USP, you will be responsible for carrying out literature searches, designing synthetic routes, performing synthesis and isolation of pharmaceutical analytical impurities, reference standards, and degradation impurity standards. Additionally, you will be involved in procuring raw materials, conducting reactions in both small and large scales, purifying compounds, troubleshooting synthesis and purification issues, interpreting analytical data, producing quality materials, packaging synthesized compounds, and ensuring projects are completed within timelines. You will also be responsible for documentation, preparation of SOPs and reports, equipment calibrations, and lab safety compliance. Moreover, you will communicate effectively within the team and cross-functional teams, while also learning and practicing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging culture. Key Responsibilities: - Carry out literature search related to assigned projects using various scientific databases - Design synthetic routes for target small molecules and prepare project proposals with cost estimates - Perform synthesis & isolation of pharmaceutical analytical impurities, reference standards, and degradation impurity standards - Procure key raw materials and reagents required for projects - Conduct reactions in small and large scale for the synthesis of target compounds - Purify compounds through techniques such as crystallization, column chromatography, and advanced flash purification systems - Troubleshoot synthesis and purification issues independently - Contribute towards challenging projects through innovative methodologies - Ensure availability of chemicals and equipment required for projects and forward purchase requisitions - Interpret analytical data of synthesized compounds using various techniques - Produce quality materials as per customer requirements and package synthesized compounds - Plan, execute, and complete projects within timelines - Document all experiments conducted as per QMS guidelines - Prepare SOPs, protocols, reports, review records and documents, and ensure equipment calibrations - Perform periodic checks on assigned equipment and prepare, execute, and complete IQ/OQ/PQ of new instruments - Work on any other assigned tasks or lab management activities - Strictly follow lab safety norms and communicate effectively within the team and cross-functional teams Qualifications Required: - Ph.D in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with 0-7 years post-doctoral/industrial research experience OR M Sc in Organic Chemistry with 6-10 years of industrial experience in Pharmaceutical Process R&D or CRAMS or CRO setup - Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and interpretation of spectral data - Ability to search literature, design, optimize, and develop synthetic processes independently - Hands-on experience in process development of diverse chemical class of APIs/NCEs on lab scale - Excellent troubleshooting skills in synthesis and purification of target compounds - Good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills - Extensive knowledge of organic reactions, experience in handling sensitive chemicals/reagents, track record of patents/publications, exposure to GMP/GLP environment, and attention to detail and problem-solving skills,
