Job Description

Job Title: Principal

Institute: Dr. Vijay Memorial Senior Secondary School, Dharampur, District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh (run by Sai Eternal Foundation, Shimla)

Position Summary:

overall in-charge of the academic, administrative and co-curricular operations

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Postgraduate Degree in any major subject (preferably with B.Ed. or M.Ed.).
  • Minimum

    1015 years of teaching and administrative experience

    , with at least

    5 years in a leadership role

    (e.g. Vice-Principal or Principal).

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:

  • Teach at least

    one major subject

    (i.e. English, Mathematics or Science to Class 9 & 10 and Maths/Biology or Physics or Chemistry to Class 11 & 12)
  • Lead curriculum planning, implementation and review across all grades.
  • Ensure academic excellence and monitor the quality of teaching through regular classroom observations and feedback.
  • Promote innovation in teaching methods and integration of technology.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the school.
  • Manage boarding facilities, student welfare, safety and discipline.
  • Coordinate with administrative and support staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Education Board and relevant guidelines.

Staff Management:

  • Supervise, evaluate and mentor teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, professional development sessions and performance reviews.
  • Foster a positive work environment and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.

Student Development:

  • Foster a disciplined, inclusive and nurturing environment for students.
  • Promote sports, cultural activities and personality development programs.
  • Address disciplinary matters and counsel students when required.

Parental and Community Engagement:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians through PTMs and individual consultations.
  • Represent the school in the local community and liaise with external parties.

Financial and Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation and infrastructure development.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of school facilities and hostels.
  • Previous experience in a

    residential/boarding school setup

    will be preferred.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for education and child development.
  • Ability to mentor both students and staff.
  • Effective communication in English and Hindi.
  • Familiarity with digital tools, online systems and modern pedagogical practices.

Remuneration/Other Benefits:

  • A monthly compensation of 50,000 (negotiable), subject to adjustment based on the candidates experience, qualifications and overall suitability for the role.
  • Leave entitlement as per the policy of the Employer/Academic Calendar approved by the State Board
