Core SAP ABAP Skills & Responsibilities

1. Programming Skills

  • Proficient in Reports: Classical, Interactive, ALV (List & Grid).
  • Expertise in Module Pool Programming(Dialog Programming).
  • Good knowledge of Forms: SAP Script and Smart Forms.
  • Ability to create and modify Function Modulesand User Exits.

2. Data Dictionary

  • Strong knowledge of creating and maintaining:
  • Tables
  • Structures
  • Views
  • Data Elements
  • Domains
  • Search Helps
  • Lock Objects

3. Performance Optimization

  • Use of runtime analysis (SE30)and SQL trace (ST05).
  • Internal table optimization using proper types, keys, and buffering techniques.

4. Modularization Techniques

  • Usage of:
  • Includes
  • Subroutines
  • Function Modules
  • Methods/Classes (OOP in ABAP)

5. BDC and LSMW

  • Batch Data Communication (BDC) using Call Transaction & Session methods.
  • Experience with Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW)for data upload.

6. Enhancements & Modifications

  • Knowledge of:
  • User Exits
  • Customer Exits
  • BADI (Business Add-Ins)
  • Enhancement Points
  • Implicit/Explicit enhancements

7. Debugging & Testing

  • Proficient in using the ABAP Debugger.
  • Writing unit testsfor custom code.
  • Experience with Error Analysis& Bug Fixing.

8. SAP Standard Tools & Transactions

  • Familiar with:

  • SE38 (Program Editor)
  • SE11 (Data Dictionary)

  • SE93, SE84, ST22, SM37, etc.

9. Basic Knowledge of Workflows & IDOCs (Optional forCore ABAP)
