Job Title: SAP ABAP consultant

Experience: 5 to 14 years

• Work with functional consultants and business stakeholders to gather business requirements, analyse gaps, and propose technical ABAP-based solutions.

• Translate functional specifications or user requirements into technical design specifications and then develop programs, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms (RICEFW) in ABAP.

• Develop, debug, test, document and maintain ABAP programs, including classical/interactive reports, ALV, module pool, SmartForms, Adobe Forms, BAPIs, IDOCs, user-exits, BADIs, enhancements.

• Work on SAP S/4HANA developments: e.g., ABAP on HANA, CDS views, AMDP, OData services, Fiori/UI5 integration (if applicable) to enable modern SAP build.

• Participate in full life-cycle implementation (Prepare/Explore/Realize/Deploy) and/or migration/support projects, including custom code remediation during S/4HANA conversion.

• Perform performance tuning, code optimization, troubleshooting of ABAP objects and system issues.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation (technical specs, unit test cases, user manuals) and support unit testing, system/integration testing, go-live and post-go-live support/hypercare.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (functional consultants, basis/infra, testing/QA, on-site/off-shore teams) and participate in client interfacing, on-site/off-shore delivery model, if required.

• Mentor or support junior ABAP developers (depending on seniority level), ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Technical Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Engineering or equivalent.

• Minimum X years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development (depending on level: e.g., 3-5 years for mid, 5-10 years for senior) in implementation and/or support roles.

• Strong proficiency in ABAP programming, object-oriented ABAP, ABAP Workbench, Data Dictionary, ALV, module pool, dialogues, reports, enhancements, user exits, customer exits, BADIs, BAPI, IDOC, RFCs, interface development.

• Experience in RICEFW: reports, interfaces, conversions,enhancements, forms (SmartForms/Adobe Forms) and workflows.

• Experience in S/4HANA environment or migration projects (ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, OData, Gateway) is highly desirable.

• Good understanding of one or more SAP functional modules (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, QM) to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and strong debugging/troubleshooting ability.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work with business users, functional teams, and technical peers.

• Ability to work in fast-paced, delivery-oriented environment, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
