Roles and Responsibilities

The Safety Officer will be entrusted with a comprehensive set of responsibilities aimed at promoting safety excellence across all phases of thermal power projects. The role demands proactive identification and mitigation of risks to safeguard employees, equipment, and the environment.

• Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:

  Conduct detailed risk assessments across all project activities including construction, operation, and maintenance phases. This involves systematically identifying potential safety hazards such as fire risks, electrical hazards, mechanical failures, and chemical exposures, with a focus on thermal project specifics.

• Safety Policy Implementation:

  Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety policies and procedures in accordance with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards. Continuously update safety manuals and protocols to align with evolving industry best practices and compliance requirements.

• Incident Investigation and Reporting:

  Lead thorough investigations into accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate documentation for internal review and regulatory bodies.

• Training and Awareness Programs:

  Design and deliver safety training sessions and awareness campaigns tailored to various teams and contractors working on the thermal power projects. Promote a culture of safety mindfulness and accountability at all organizational levels.

• Emergency Preparedness:

  Develop and periodically test emergency response plans including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and crisis management strategies specific to the thermal power environment. Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as needed.

• Safety Audits and Inspections:

  Conduct regular on-site safety audits, inspections, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to internal standards and statutory regulations. Identify gaps and recommend corrective actions promptly.

• Stakeholder Collaboration:

  Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to integrate safety considerations seamlessly into project execution. Provide expert guidance on safety during project planning and design phases.

• Continuous Improvement:

  Utilize data analytics and feedback mechanisms to continuously improve safety performance. Champion initiatives that foster innovation in safety technology and processes to enhance operational safety standards.

• Documentation and Compliance:

  Maintain comprehensive records related to safety performance metrics, training, incident logs, and audit outcomes to support transparency and compliance with Adanis quality management systems and statutory requirements.

• Promoting Adanis Safety Culture:

  Embody and promote Adanis culture of safety, responsibility, and sustainability. Act as a role model for ethical conduct and commitment to the wellbeing of all personnel.

Education Qualification

B.tech /BE in any discipline + Post diploma in industrial safety from recognized institute

Experience: 5-15 years of experience in thermal power / cement / steel plant project.

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to thermal power plants
• Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and safety audits
• Familiarity with fire safety systems and emergency response protocols
• Experience with safety management software and reporting tools
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards in thermal projects
• Competence in incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies
