Role & responsibilities

Key responsibilities

Develop and implement policies:
Create and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure a compliant and safe work environment.
Conduct inspections and audits:
Regularly inspect construction sites to identify potential hazards, monitor for unsafe practices, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Incident investigation:
Investigate accidents, near-misses, and other incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Training and education:
Provide comprehensive safety training to all employees and contractors on site protocols, emergency procedures, and proper use of equipment.
Emergency preparedness:
Develop and lead emergency response plans, including evacuation drills and fire prevention measures.
Compliance and reporting:
Stay up-to-date with all local, state, and federal safety regulations (like OSHA) and prepare and maintain all necessary safety records and reports.
Safety culture:
Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, safety meetings, and by holding individuals accountable for safety performance.
Environmental management:
Oversee environmental aspects of a project, such as waste management, if applicable.
