Research Associate for North Western Railway (NWR) Project

Role Overview: You will be involved in a project with North Western Railway (NWR) to assess the current status of goods and parcel traffic and develop strategies to improve NWR's market share in the freight and parcel business. This role will require comprehensive data collection, stakeholder engagement, and strategic analysis to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and market competitiveness. It offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to transportation, logistics, and large-scale operations management within one of India's critical public sector organizations. This position is well-suited for candidates interested in pursuing doctoral studies in operations, logistics, transportation systems, or public policy. Key Responsibilities: - Collect, clean, and analyze operational and commercial data related to goods and parcel traffic of NWR. - Conduct stakeholder interviews and surveys with railway officials, freight customers, logistics service providers, etc. - Prepare technical reports, presentations, and policy briefs for submission to NWR. Qualifications: - Masters degree in Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or related fields. Additional Details: The candidate will work out of IIM Udaipur with the PI and Co-PI but must be willing to extensively travel across Rajasthan for data collection, interviews, and survey work. Proficiency in Hindi and English, MS Excel, and strong written and oral communication skills are essential for this role.
