Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development and Innovation

• Lead the formulation and development of industrial paints, including protective coatings, high-performance finishes, and specialized industrial applications.
• Identify new technologies, raw materials, and methods to enhance product performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop eco-friendly and sustainable products in alignment with industry trends and regulations.

2. Quality, Compliance, and IMS Documentation

• Ensure all developed products comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and IMS protocols (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Oversee and maintain R&D-related IMS documentation, including quality manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
• Participate in IMS audits, contribute to non-conformance resolution, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations, including REACH, RoHS, and other relevant standards.

3. Team Management and Collaboration

• Manage and mentor the R&D team to drive technical expertise and innovation.
• Collaborate with production, marketing, and sales teams to align R&D efforts with market demands.
• Support the training of technical teams on new products, formulations, and IMS practices.

4. Problem-Solving and Technical Support

• Provide technical support to address customer complaints and resolve issues related to product performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and ensure process improvements.

5. Research, Market Trends, and IMS Alignment

• Stay updated on market trends, customer preferences, and technological advancements in industrial paints.
• Benchmark company products against competitors and recommend strategies for differentiation.
• Align R&D activities with IMS objectives, focusing on continual improvement and sustainability.

6. Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including formulation details, test reports, and project updates.
• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping as per IMS requirements for R&D activities.
• Present periodic updates on R&D progress and achievements to senior management.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Expertise in formulation chemistry, particularly for industrial and protective coatings.
• Strong understanding of raw materials, paint application processes, and performance testing methods.
• Knowledge of IMS standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and other regulatory requirements in the paint industry.
• Proficiency in IMS documentation, audit participation, and compliance management.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration abilities.

Preferred candidate profile

• Educational Background:

  Bsc/Msc/ in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related fields.

• Experience:

  15+ years in the paint/coatings industry, with at least 7 years in a managerial role focusing on industrial paints.
• Proven track record in developing successful industrial paint formulations.

Experience with IMS implementation and audit participation is preferred
