Job Description – R&D Chemist

1. Role Overview

The R&D Chemist will be responsible for developing new chemical formulations, improving existing products, conducting laboratory experiments, and supporting scale-up activities. The role requires strong analytical skills with hands-on laboratory expertise, especially in Grignard reactions, organic synthesis, and green chemistry practices.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Research & Product Development

• Conduct Grignard reactions, nucleophilic additions, and other organic synthesis reactions.
• Handing reaction chlorination, nitration, Hydrgenation reaction in Autoclave.
• Develop sustainable and eco-friendly formulations using Green Chemistry principles.
• Modify and improve existing products for performance enhancement and cost reduction.
• Execute lab-scale experiments, data analysis, and formulation development.

B. Application & Testing

• Perform analytical testing using GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, KF, TGA, DSC, etc.
• Conduct stability studies and evaluate product performance.
• Prepare and update TDS, MSDS, COA, and product specifications.

C. Scale-up & Plant Support

• Support pilot plant and production teams during process scale-up.
• Provide technical troubleshooting for process deviations and raw material issues.
• Assist in optimizing reaction conditions, yields, and reaction safety.

D. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain detailed lab notebooks and R&D reports.
• Follow internal SOPs, ISO, GMP, and safety guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards as per Green Chemistry norms.

3. Required Qualifications

Education

• M.Sc. Chemistry (Organic)
• B.Sc. with strong hands-on synthesis experience can also be considered.

Experience

• 0–4 years in chemical or specialty chemical industry.
• Experience with Grignard reagent preparation, handling air-sensitive reactions, and dry chemistry preferred.
• Handling of Chlorination, nitration reaction
• Handling of Hydrogenation reaction using Raney/ Nickel, 5% Pd/C.

4. Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Grignard reactions and organometallic chemistry.
• Understanding of Green Chemistry principles and sustainable chemical processes.
• Proficient in reaction monitoring, work-up, purification, distillation, and crystallization.
• Skilled in analytical instruments and data interpretation.
• Good knowledge of lab safety, particularly with moisture-sensitive reagents.

• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Analytical problem solver with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Time management and ability to handle multiple projects.

• Successful execution of Grignard and organic synthesis projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹301,387.73 - ₹500,000.00 per year
