Job Description

You will be joining Olympus Corporation, a globally renowned leader in endoscopy enabled healthcare, with a rich history of nearly a century. As the Senior Manager in mechanical engineering R&D, your role will involve: - Leading the functional setup and management of the mechanical engineering function, optimizing workflows, task assignments, hiring/team set-up, and resource management - Identifying and implementing cutting-edge technologies and mechanical engineering practices to improve product performance and drive innovation - Hands-on experience in designing and developing mechanical components and systems for manufacturing - Collaborating with global project managers to ensure alignment with Olympus long-term R&D strategy - Developing and overseeing technical training and knowledge-sharing programs for internal teams - Implementing continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical engineering function - Participating in strategic planning to support long-term growth and competitiveness - Recruiting staff, developing them through assignments, guidance, and mentorship, and managing their performance - Creating systems to ensure all updates/changes are communicated across sites/employees Additionally, your responsibilities will include: - Heading the mechanical engineering function to own and account for the delivery, execution, and management of all New Product Development (NPD) activities - Providing strategic oversight and guidance for mechanical R&D projects, ensuring alignment with performance specifications, regulatory standards, and overall R&D objectives - Managing technical roadmaps, project status reports, and technical RAID logs - Facilitating technical problem-solving and ensuring adherence to design control procedures Your qualifications should include a degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields, with 14+ years of overall experience in mechanical engineering or medical device development. A master's in mechanical engineering will be an added advantage. You should have proven experience in leading teams for the design and development of Class II/III medical devices, strong technical background in mechanical engineering, expertise in managing R&D engineering projects, and familiarity with CAD tools and simulation tools. Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.,
