Job Summary
The Incharge – Quality Control (QC) is responsible for ensuring product quality by implementing and managing QC processes for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods. This role involves conducting quality tests, maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards, reducing defects, and working closely with production teams to improve overall product quality in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
Quality Control & Testing
Oversee quality control testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
Ensure that all QC checks meet FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and internal quality standards.
Monitor weight, texture, moisture content, pH levels, and other key product parameters.
Verify batch consistency and uniformity through standardized testing protocols.
Conduct physical, chemical, and microbiological analysis as per SOPs.
Defect Identification & Corrective Actions
Identify product quality deviations and process non-conformities.
Work with the production team to resolve defects and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Monitor trends in product defects and initiate preventive actions to reduce recurrence.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for critical quality issues and implement CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
Compliance & Regulatory Standards
Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and internal quality control procedures.
Prepare and maintain QC documentation, test reports, and regulatory compliance records.
Support regulatory inspections and ensure audit readiness for ISO, HACCP, and FSSAI audits.
Implement and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation standards.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality control efficiency.
Assist in developing and refining SOPs to ensure better quality outcomes.
Recommend improvements in raw material selection, production processes, and packaging quality.
Supplier Quality Assurance & Material Testing
Ensure that all incoming raw materials and packaging materials comply with quality specifications.
Conduct supplier audits and quality assessments to ensure adherence to agreed quality standards.
Work with the procurement team to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
Team Coordination & Training
Lead and supervise QC lab technicians and quality inspectors.
Provide training to the production team on quality parameters, testing methods, and compliance standards.
Conduct awareness programs on quality control, hygiene, and food safety best practices.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate QC test records, lab reports, and quality dashboards.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly QC performance reports to the Head – Quality.
Ensure traceability of product batches and maintain batch records for future reference.

Technical/Functional Competencies

Understanding of microbiological, chemical, and physical testing methods.
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.
Proficiency in ERP, SAP, and digital QC tracking systems.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, or Quality Management.
Preferred Qualification Certification in HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, or Quality Control.
Experience 5+ years in quality control in FMCG/food manufacturing, with experience in supervisory roles.
