QC Manager (Adhesive Tape Manufacturing)

Reporting To: Operations Head / Works Manager

Job Summary:

The QC Manager / Assistant Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process materials, and finished adhesive tape products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. The role involves managing QC operations, leading the inspection team, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement in product quality and process control.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Control:

• Develop and implement quality control procedures and inspection standards for raw materials (BOPP film, adhesives, etc.), WIP, and finished goods.
• Oversee testing of physical and chemical parameters such as adhesion strength, thickness, tackiness, elongation, and peel strength.
• Monitor in-line production quality to minimize defects and customer complaints.
• Ensure timely dispatch of approved samples to customers.

Inspection & Testing:

• Supervise inspection of incoming materials, in-process checks, and final product testing.
• Maintain calibration and availability of testing equipment (GSM, peel, tack testers).
• Maintain and track batch-wise test reports.
• Prepare weekly and monthly quality summaries.

Quality Systems & Compliance:

• Implement and maintain ISO 9001, 5S, and GMP systems (as applicable).
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and customer-specific quality norms.
• Prepare for and lead internal/external audits.
• Create, update, and enforce manufacturing SOPs.

Customer Complaint Handling:

• Investigate product complaints and non-conformities, perform root cause analysis, and implement CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions).
• Provide technical assistance to sales and customer service teams.

Team Management:

• Lead and mentor QC inspectors, lab technicians, and engineers.
• Foster a strong “Quality First” culture within the organization.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain QC documentation, reports, and test certificates.
• Present monthly KPIs, quality trends, and improvement plans to management.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: B.Sc / B.Tech (Chemistry / Polymer Science / Chemical Engineering / MBA or related).
• Experience: 5–10 years in Quality Control (manufacturing industry).
• Experience in adhesive tapes, packaging, or polymer-based products preferred.
• Knowledge of quality tools, SPC, and PSA tape testing procedures essential.
