Job Summary:

The QA/QC Engineer in the steel industry is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and final steel products meet quality standards and comply with industry specifications and customer requirements. This role involves implementing quality management systems, conducting inspections, coordinating with production teams, and identifying areas for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and inspect raw materials, in-process materials, and finished steel products to ensure compliance with technical specifications (e.g., ASTM, IS, EN standards).

Conduct mechanical and chemical testing (tensile, hardness, impact, composition, etc.) as per product requirements.

Implement and maintain ISO 9001 and other quality management system standards.

Develop, review, and update quality control procedures, inspection plans, and test methods.

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and issue Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) for non-conformances.

Coordinate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure quality standards are integrated at every stage of the manufacturing process.

Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, test certificates, calibration records, and audit findings.

Conduct internal audits and support external audits (customer audits, ISO audits, etc.).

Train production personnel on quality standards and procedures.

Ensure traceability of materials and finished products throughout the manufacturing process.

Support continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen methodologies.

Defect rate in finished products

Customer complaints and returns

Inspection pass/fail rates

Audit compliance score

Timeliness and effectiveness of CAPA implementation

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

[X+] years of QA/QC experience in a steel manufacturing or metal processing environment.

Strong understanding of steel grades, mechanical testing, and metallurgical processes (hot rolling, forging, casting, etc.).

Familiarity with standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ASTM, BIS, or EN.

Knowledge of NDT methods (UT, RT, PT, MT) is a plus.

Proficient in quality tools: 7 QC Tools, RCA, FMEA, SPC, etc.

Good communication, reporting, and analytical skills.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
