Python Backend Engineer

Role Description:

This is a full-time remote role for a Software Engineer as an early team member in a fast-paced startup. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the web application, with a primary focus on back-end development. Your role will involve software development, programming, and object-oriented programming (OOP). Previous experience with PLC and socket-level communication is a plus.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop high-quality and scalable backend services and APIs using Python and relevant frameworks.
2. Optimize backend code for performance, scalability, and security.
3. Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the reliable operation of backend systems.
4. Support existing infrastructure and operations teams in deploying and maintaining backend services on cloud platforms.
5. Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
6. Use Git for version control, managing Python code updates, and collaborating with team members.
7. Solve complex problems efficiently, adapting to new challenges and evolving requirements.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong proficiency in Python2/Python3 and experience with relevant frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI).
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and experience in building RESTful APIs.
• Basic Understanding of Linux and networking.
• Familiarity with database systems (preferably SQL).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies quickly and take ownership of learning opportunities.
• Write clean, modular, and reusable code with a focus on quality, scalability, and performance.

Preferred/Desired Skills:

• Exposure to web frameworks like Flask for building APIs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
• Certification in Python programming is a plus.
• IOT experience is a plus.
• Ability to leverage AI tools/assistance to be more productive and efficient.
