Job Description

Role & responsibilities

This role covers vendor development, price negotiation, contract management, inventory planning, and coordination with production, farm operations, finance, and quality teams.

- The Purchase Manager is responsible for endtoend procurement of cattle feed ingredients, veterinary and farm supplies, packaging, and operational consumables, ensuring uninterrupted, costeffective, and qualitycompliant supply for dairy farms and cattle feed operations.

- Develop and implement the annual procurement plan for dairy farms and cattle feed units covering raw materials grains, oil cakes, minerals, additives, fodder, veterinary medicines, semen and AI supplies, equipment, and general consumables.

- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings while maintaining required quality standards.

- Monitor daily/weekly inventory of feed ingredients, finished feed, medicines, chemicals, spares, and farm consumables, coordinate with stores for reorder levels and safety stock.

- Coordinate with farm managers, nutritionists, and production teams to convert their material indents into purchase requisitions and purchase orders in line with budget.

- Manage logistics, transport arrangements, and delivery followups to ensure ontime arrival of materials at farms, feed mills, and warehouses.

- Maintain accurate and uptodate records of suppliers, purchase orders, contracts, price lists, and material receipts in ERP/Excel, ensuring full traceability.

- Track market trends for major feed commodities (maize, soybean meal, rice bran, etc.) and dairy farm inputs to support timely buying decisions and risk mitigation.

- Resolve supplier issues related to delivery delays, quality rejections, quantity differences, and invoice mismatches in coordination with stores, quality, and accounts. Drive costsaving and valueengineering initiatives such as alternate raw materials, new vendor development, longterm contracts, and optimization of transport and storage.

- Plan and execute timely purchase of all inputs based on farm milk plans, feed production schedules, and inventory norms to avoid stockouts or overstocking.

- Source and evaluate suppliers for cattle feed raw materials, green and dry fodder, packaging materials, farm equipment, and services, ensuring competitiveness, quality, and reliability.
