Purchase Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Preparation of RFQ with terms & conditions mentioned in purchase policy & follow up for Quotes.
• Analyze all suppliers in order to select the most suitable suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.
• Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality so as to obtain the maximum benefit for the company.
• Purchase order creation and placing orders per mutually agreed price & terms for approval from authorized signatory
• Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality.
• Arranging of Inspection reports from vendors
• Define and maintain documented category and supplier strategies using market and competitive data.
• Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedule so as to ensure on-time deliveries of final product.
• Develop, implement and drive the procurement strategies in order to meet cost savings targets.
• Review and manage the supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy.
• Perform regular performance review with suppliers to drive continuous improvements.
• Create monthly performance reviews and reports focusing on overall sourcing requirements.
• Ensure commercial, legal and contractual compliances in all the procurement transactions.
• Adopt appropriate supplier management methodologies and procurement strategies in purchasing to secure better prices.
• Train team on effective procurement processes and strategy.
• Coordinate with vendor on continuous quality improvement.
• Supporting internal customers in case of urgency.
• Continuous working for cost reduction with project team & suppliers.

Preferred candidate profile

• Engineering graduate with 5-8 years of procurement experience in sheet metal and machined components.
• Knowledge on materials like tool steels, stainless steel, Aluminium alloys, plastics and rubbers.
• Knowledge on different types of material coating and plating and anodizing.
• Must be familiar in manufacturing processes of sheet metal fabrication, machined components and molding.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with personal computers and networking, specifically Microsoft excel.
• Ability to analyze bill of material and drawings to understand key requirements.
• Knowledge and direct experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with contract Manufacturers and Suppliers
• Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Visiting to vendor places on regular basis to track the status of ordered parts.
• Must be owning 2 wheeler for supplier visits.
• Committed to think outside of the box to achieve the goals.
• Willing to shift to Bangalore.
