Purchase Associate - Supply Chain Operations

As a member of the Asset Acquisition team at Maersk, you will play a crucial role in acquiring physical assets essential for Maersk's end-to-end transport and logistics operations. Your primary responsibility will be to identify potential suppliers, manage open requests, evaluate proposals, and create purchase orders to ensure timely acquisition of assets such as vessels, containers, terminals, warehouses, aircraft, trucks, and more. Your role will involve coordinating with suppliers to guarantee on-time deliveries, resolving any discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices, and determining the best sources of supply based on various criteria including price, quality, and delivery time. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining system accuracy, issuing purchase orders with accurate terms and conditions, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to achieve yearly cost reduction targets. Stakeholder management and collaboration will be a key aspect of your role, as you will need to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth procurement operations. Acting as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams, you will ensure effective communication and alignment to meet common goals. In terms of business continuity, you will proactively manage supplier relationships, develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions, and monitor market trends to mitigate any issues that may impact business operations. Your ability to work cross-culturally with colleagues and suppliers worldwide, lead projects, negotiate with cross-functional teams, and multitask effectively will be essential for success in this role. Relevant experience in purchase/procurement, strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and resolve issues in a high-volume environment are some of the key requirements for this position.
