Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and tech-savvy Primary Teacher (PRT) for Computer Science to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for introducing primary school students to the world of computers, technology, and digital literacy. The PRT Computer Science will focus on developing students' basic computing skills, encouraging problem-solving abilities, and fostering creativity through the use of technology in a fun and engaging manner. Key Responsibilities: Lesson Planning & Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons in Computer Science, covering topics such as basic computer operations, internet safety, word processing, spreadsheets, coding, and digital creativity tools. Use interactive teaching methods, such as games, hands-on activities, and multimedia resources, to make technology concepts understandable and fun for young learners. Introduce basic programming concepts and logical thinking through age-appropriate tools and platforms. Curriculum Implementation: Implement the school's prescribed curriculum for Computer Science, ensuring that students are introduced to fundamental computing concepts and develop essential digital literacy skills. Incorporate real-world applications of technology to make learning relevant and practical. Adapt lessons to meet the varying skill levels and learning needs of students, ensuring all students develop confidence in their technology skills. Assessment & Feedback: Regularly assess students’ progress through quizzes, practical tasks, classwork, and projects. Provide constructive feedback on students’ work, encouraging them to explore new tools, improve problem-solving abilities, and enhance their technical skills. Maintain accurate records of student progress and report regularly to parents on their child’s academic performance in computer science. Classroom Management: Create a positive and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable exploring technology. Foster a culture of respect for digital tools, the responsible use of technology, and collaboration among students. Manage classroom behavior and ensure that students remain focused on their learning during computer lab sessions. Student Support & Engagement: Offer additional support to students who need help mastering computer skills, including one-on-one assistance and small group work. Encourage students to participate in digital learning projects, coding challenges, and other technology-driven activities. Motivate students to build creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills using digital tools. Parental Communication: Communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress in computer science, highlighting achievements and addressing areas for improvement. Participate in parent-teacher meetings to discuss students' learning in technology and provide recommendations for additional practice at home. Keep parents informed about upcoming projects, assignments, and digital literacy-related events or initiatives. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in technology, digital tools, and educational software relevant to the primary school curriculum. Participate in professional development programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of computer science. Collaborate with colleagues to share ideas, teaching strategies, and resources to improve student engagement and learning outcomes in Computer Science. Qualifications & Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Education (with a focus on Computer Science); B.Ed or equivalent teaching certification is preferred. Experience: Prior experience teaching Computer Science at the primary school level is an advantage. Skills: Strong knowledge of basic computer applications, digital literacy, coding, and internet safety. Ability to make learning technology concepts engaging, practical, and accessible for young students. Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Familiarity with educational software, programming languages suitable for primary students (e.g., Scratch, Blockly, Code.org), and digital teaching tools. Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young learners.
