Job Description

Role & responsibilities

. EPC & Stakeholder Management (The "Tie-in" Role)

  • Owners Representative:

    Serve as the single point of accountability for the EPC contract. rigorously monitor their deliverables, engineering drawings, and procurement schedules.
  • Conflict Resolution:

    Resolve bottlenecks between the EPC consultants, technology licensors, and internal teams. Ensure the EPC consultant is held accountable for "Scope Creep" and timeline slippages.
  • Integration:

    Ensure that the "off-site" utilities (power, water, waste) which might fall outside the EPC scope are synchronized with the main plant construction.

2. Multi-Site Project Execution

  • Master Scheduling:

    Create and own the Master Project Schedule. harmonize the timelines of both plant sites to optimize resource sharing and cash flow.
  • Site Leadership:

    mentor and direct the

    Project Leads

    at each site. Ensure they are enforcing quality standards daily and not just accepting whatever the contractors build.
  • Risk Management:

    Proactively identify long-lead item delays (e.g., waiting for imported machinery) and devise mitigation plans (e.g., air-freighting critical components) to keep the project on track.

3. Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Capex Stewardship:

    Manage the total project budget. Approve milestone payments to the EPC and vendors only upon verified completion of work.
  • Change Order Management:

    Scrutinize every "Change Order" request from contractors to prevent unnecessary cost escalations.

4. Transition to Operations

  • Commissioning:

    Lead the transition from "Mechanical Completion" to "Commissioning." Work with the Head of Operations/HR to bring the operation teams onto the site 3 months prior to launch for training.
  • Safety (HSE):

    Enforce a zero-tolerance safety culture during construction. Ensure the sites comply with all statutory factory and explosive/chemical safety regulations.

Preferred candidate profile

  • B.E./B.Tech in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

    . (PMP Certification is a strong plus).
  • 15 to 18 years in Project Management within the Process Industry (

    Biofuels, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, or Pharma

    ).
  • Mandatory Requirement:

  • Must have successfully delivered at least

    one end-to-end Greenfield project

    valued at 300+ Cr or above.
  • Must have the Engineering competence to understand and navigate complex designs and drawings to make sure that the Company is getting what it needs.
  • Experience managing global or Tier-1 EPC consultants.
  • Competencies:

  • Contract Literacy:

    Ability to read and enforce complex engineering contracts (FIDIC, etc.).
  • Negotiation:

    Strong ability to negotiate with vendors and contractors without damaging relationships.
  • Commercial Acumen:

    Understands how project delays impact the company's IRR and cash flow.
