Program Manager

As a Program Manager at Fish Welfare Initiative, you will play a crucial role in leading field operations, overseeing Program Associates, and maintaining strong relationships with farmers participating in the Alliance for Responsible Aquaculture (ARA) program. Your passion for animal welfare and previous experience in managing people and farmer relationships make you a perfect fit for this position. **Key Responsibilities**: - **Management**: - Manage 3+ Program Associates effectively. - Supervise the implementation of ARA protocols and experiments. - Ensure timely and accurate data entry by Program Associates. - Conduct audits and quality control to ensure adherence to protocols. - **Farmer Engagement**: - Build and maintain relationships with ARA farmers. - Obtain stocking, harvest, and other farm information at timely intervals and update our data accordingly. - Spend 50%+ of your time in the field engaging with ARA staff, farmers, and other stakeholders. - **Scaling and Strategic Assistance**: - Provide field input during strategic meetings with FWI leadership. - Lead the process of enrolling new farms in the ARA. **Qualification Required**: - **Required Criteria**: - You have the right to work in India. - 1 year of experience managing field programs in the development, environmental protection, or animal advocacy sectors. - Fluent in oral and written Telugu and English. - Full-time presence in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh required with extensive fieldwork in surrounding villages. - Ability to drive a motorbike or scooter on rural (often dirt) roads. - **Ideal Criteria**: - Bachelors degree or greater in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Social Sciences, or other sciences. - Previous experience with water quality analysis and management in aquaculture.
