Job Description

Company Description

TREE Foundation is an Indian NGO founded in 2002 by Dr. Supraja Dharini with guidance from Dr. Jane Goodall. The organization is dedicated to marine conservation with a focus on educating and engaging marginalized fishing communities to safeguard coastal ecosystems and protect the habitats of sea turtles. TREE Foundation has established community-based sea turtle conservation programs across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, protecting nearly 700 km of nesting habitats. Over the years, these programs have involved hundreds of local fishers, transforming former turtle egg poachers into Sea Turtle Protection Force (STPF) members, who work to save sea turtles and promote sustainable practices. The foundation's initiatives have been recognized nationally and internationally for their impact.

Role Description

We are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic person with a compassion for marine life to join our team in the position of Program Coordinator. Reporting directly to TREE Foundation's Chairperson, your responsibilities will include: • Planning and implementing community-based sea turtle conservation activities, awareness programs for artisanal fishermen, school biodiversity programs, and volunteer engagement initiatives. • Conducting awareness programs, stakeholder workshops, and training sessions for community members, school students, in collaboration with Forest Department staff and other stakeholders. • Supervising STPF patrolling, nest relocation, hatchery operations, hatchling release, and other conservation activities on the beaches. • Coordinating and monitoring Turtle Walks and volunteer engagement programs, including participant orientation, guided beach activities, and conservation awareness. • Facilitating biodiversity education programs in schools using interactive sessions, multimedia presentations, competitions, and engaging activities. • Ensuring accurate data collection, GPS mapping, monitoring of nesting and conservation activities, and maintaining proper documentation. • Preparing regular progress reports and ensuring donor/partner compliance. • Supervising and mentoring project staff, field staff, community volunteers, and STPF members. • Assisting and supporting regional coordinators in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Goa with data compilation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Telugu and English (both oral and written). • Excellent professional communication skills, including telephone and group interactions. • 3–5 years’ experience in a dynamic work environment, preferably in community development, NGO projects, in a supervisory or managerial role. • Strong interest in conservation and willingness to work closely with local communities. • Commitment to work on a long-term basis once confirmed. • Willingness to work flexible hours, especially during nesting seasons and important institutional events, and readiness to work in the field (grassroots) alongside local communities. Salary: Up to ₹30,000 per month Last date to apply: 15th December 2025.
