Product Manager - Data Apps

Job Summary:

Own and scale internal products that replace manual, spreadsheet-driven workflows with simple, reliable software. Translate complex, rule-heavy business processes into intuitive features, ship improvements in tight loops, and drive adoption across stakeholder teams. The role partners closely with a full-stack engineer; youll also do lightweight prototyping (vibe coding) and use AI assistants responsibly to accelerate discovery, documentation, and testingwithout compromising quality or governance.

Key Result Areas:

• Process Simplification & Accuracy: Deliver product increments that reduce manual validations and rework, with measurable drops in data/logic errors and fewer reruns for stakeholders.
• Adoption & Experience: Achieve steady feature usage growth and improved satisfaction across business teams; capture feedback systematically and close the loop in subsequent releases.
• Velocity & Transparency: Maintain a clear, prioritized backlog; release in small batches with crisp release notes, success metrics, and visible roadmap updates.
• Data & Platform Fit: Partner with engineering to evolve data contracts and APIs; ensure features are observable, secure, and resilient as usage scales.
• Ways-of-Working & Org Building: Establish lightweight product rituals (discovery, PRDs, demos, retros), templates, and documentation to grow the internal product capability.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Product Discovery: Map as-is workflows, identify pain points, and frame to-be journeys; translate business rules into system behavior with unambiguous acceptance criteria.
• Backlog & Roadmap: Own epics/stories; balance quick stabilization wins with structural improvements (schema standardization, validations in-app vs. in spreadsheets).
• Hands-on Prototyping: Build thin slices and proofs-of-concept; pair closely with the full-stack engineer for complex features. Use AI tools to draft user stories, test data, and edge-case checks
• Quality & UAT: Orchestrate UAT; triage feedback; convert defects into shippable fixes; track quality trends and regression risk.
• Change & Enablement: Drive template/format simplification; publish concise how-tos; run demos
• Security & Compliance: Partner with engineering on authN/authZ, auditability, data minimization, and responsible use of AI within enterprise guardrails.
• Documentation: Maintain PRDs, release notes, user guides, and API usage notes aligned to internal standards

Required Experience:

• Experience: 6-10 years in Product Management/Ownership or adjacent roles (BA/SE) building internal tools
• Execution Excellence: Strong story writing/acceptance criteria; backlog prioritization; iterative delivery; crisp stakeholder communication.
• Collaboration: Operates independently and in small squads; facilitates cross-functional decisions with clarity.
• Builders Mindset: Comfortable with hands-on prototyping, reading API responses/JSON, and inspecting data to validate business logic.
• Responsible AI: Pragmatic understanding of where AI can safely accelerate work (drafting, summarization, test generation) and where human review is essential.

Technical Skills Required:

• APIs & Integration: REST concepts, API exploration (e.g., Postman), reading/writing basic JSON; familiarity with token-based auth and role-based access.
• Data & BI: Interpreting metrics, basic query literacy, partnering with BI to track adoption/quality outcomes.
• Web App Concepts: Modern web app primitives, CI/CD basics, observability and error reporting (to collaborate effectively with engineering).
• Documentation: Clear PRDs, user guides, and release notes using internal templates.
