Job Description

Role Overview: As a Product Development Engineer - Exterior, you will be responsible for leading the sub system engineers and overseeing the deliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s) within the Exteriors Domain. Your primary skills will include excellent communication, proficiency in tools like CATIA V6, 3DExperience, Teamcenter Visualization Mock-up, DFMEA, Agile or Scrum, and Microsoft Project, among others. With 8-12 years of experience, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the right first-time development and integration of various components within the automotive sector. Key Responsibilities: - Lead engineering sub system meetings to ensure cross-functional representation and input from all relevant areas. - Progress design maturity from initial concept to Engineering Sign-Off and design gateways. - Establish and maintain the teamwork plan aligned to the vehicle program. - Ensure system, sub-system, and components meet cost and weight targets. - Ensure regulatory compliance of system, sub-system, and components. - Define appropriate engineering targets to meet function, quality, and attribute requirements for the Vehicle Program. - Develop and maintain the design validation plan (DVP) including both in-house and supplier testing plan and ensure development signoff tests are completed on schedule. - Troubleshoot and resolve all Validation issues. - Develop System Design Specifications incorporating engineering standards, test procedures, and material specifications. - Lead Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA, quality history reviews, and DFA/DFM reviews. - Ensure all relevant documentation meets ISO & quality standards. - Lead the resolution of design, attribute, or packaging incompatibilities through appropriate cross-functional meetings. - Manage Supplier(s) to ensure system/component delivery to vehicle program timing and attribute targets. - Support Purchasing team in Sourcing and RFQ activities including the creation of ESOWs, CAD SOWs, PDSs, and ESIs. - Support vehicle launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical). - Ensure the effective application of APQP to manage system/component delivery. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. - Proven project management capability with a track record of delivering in line with time, cost, quality & attribute targets. - Extensive experience in right first-time development and integration of automotive components. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with cross-functional teams and influence at all levels. - Proficiency in tools like CATIA V6, 3DExperience, Teamcenter Visualization Mock-up, Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word, etc. - Knowledge of change control, product definition, and change management processes. - Significant experience in the use of engineering tools such as FMEA, Agile or Scrum. - Successful history of multi-vehicle delivery within the automotive sector.
