Procurement Head

Job Specification: -

• Preferably Engineering Graduate and MBA in Supply Chain / Materials Management.
• Minimum 15-18 years of experience in procurement or sourcing within the steel processing / metal manufacturing industry.
• Experience in ERP-based procurement systems (SAP etc.).

Position Summary:

The Procurement Head will be responsible for managing and optimizing all procurement and sourcing activities for the company. This includes strategic sourcing, contract management, inventory cost optimization, and ensuring a steady supply of raw materials, consumables, and services essential for the production. The role requires deep industry knowledge, negotiation acumen, and the ability to establish long-term supplier partnerships to support production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives.
• Manage sourcing of HR Coils, chemicals, lubricants, spare parts, packaging materials, and other production inputs.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria.
• Negotiate long-term contracts, payment terms, and supply agreements to optimize cost and reliability.
• Ensure timely availability of materials while maintaining minimum inventory levels.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Finance teams for material planning and cost control.
• Drive initiatives for cost reduction, alternate sourcing, and supplier consolidation.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and internal audit requirements in procurement processes.
• Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and supply risks to advise management on strategic decisions.
• Lead and mentor the procurement team to achieve functional excellence.
