Job Description

Summary:

Procurement Business Analyst drives strategic insights and financial rigor across a multi-tiered procurement organizationincluding direct raw material sourcing, indirect procurement, and Coupa platform administration. This role blends operational analytics with financial modeling to support cost optimization, supplier performance, and spend governance.

This role is pivotal in transforming procurement data into actionable insights that drive cost optimization, supplier performance, and process efficiency. Responsible for developing visual tools and frameworks that support negotiation strategies, supplier evaluations, and quarterly business reviews.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings clarity to complex datasets, and has a sharp eye for identifying inefficiencies and opportunities. Position works closely with Finance to elevate procurement decision-making. This is a hands-on role with high visibility, offering the chance to influence Procurement outcomes at both tactical and strategic levels.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Analytics

  • Develop and maintain dashboards for spend analysis, supplier performance, and sourcing cadence
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on cost variances, lead time disruptions, and supplier non-compliance
  • Support category managers with data-driven insights for RFx events, supplier selection, and contract negotiations
  • Build visual frameworks for quarterly business reviews (QBRs), highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities

Financial Modeling & Cost Optimization

  • Support preparation and presentation of the Annual Operating Plan
  • Perform should-cost analysis and cost breakdowns for raw materials, including commodity price tracking and supplier margin structures
  • Partner with finance to reconcile and track procurement savings
  • Monitor budget adherence and forecast accuracy across procurement functions, flagging deviations and recommending corrective actions

Operational Support for Direct & Indirect Procurement

  • Support indirect procurement team with contract compliance tracking, renewal alerts, and spend categorization
  • Assist in supplier onboarding and certification validation (e.g., ISO, IATF, ESG compliance)

Coupa Platform Optimization

  • Improve data integrity, workflow efficiency, and user adoption of the Coupa platform
  • Validate sourcing data within Coupa, ensuring alignment with financial reporting
  • Develop reports and visualizations from Coupa to support compliance reviews
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for process improvements and automation leveraging Coupa functionality.
  • Research, design, develop, evaluate, and deploy Coupa features and enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies with regular publication of compliance reporting and insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Procurement, IT, Finance and Business Stakeholders
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for sourcing, finance, and operations teams
  • Draft negotiation decks, supplier scorecards, and executive summaries to support strategic decision-making
  • Facilitate alignment between procurement, finance, and IT on data governance, reporting standards, and system integration
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and tools
  • Lead initiatives aimed at minimizing excess, obsolete inventory, and shelf-life risks while maintaining overall inventory integrity.

Supplier Scorecards: Designing KPIs for quality, delivery, compliance.

Risk Management Tools: Familiarity with platforms like Riskmethods or Resilinc to assess geopolitical, financial, and ESG risks.

Compliance & Certification: Managing ISO, RoHS, REACH, or industry-specific standards

Essential Functions of the Role**:

  • Spend Analysis & Reporting: Interpreting procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supplier Evaluation & Scorecarding: Assessing vendor performance and compliance.
  • Contract Review & Risk Assessment: Ensuring terms align with company standards and legal requirements.
  • ERP System Management: Operating platforms like SAP Ariba or Coupa to manage sourcing workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicating with finance, legal, and operations.
  • Process Optimization: Mapping and improving sourcing and purchasing workflows

Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:

  • Advanced Excel & Power Query: For modeling cost scenarios, spend analysis, and supplier performance dashboards.
  • SQL & Database Querying: To extract and manipulate procurement data from ERP systems or data warehouses.
  • Power BI / Tableau: For building interactive visualizations that communicate procurement trends, savings opportunities, and risk profiles
  • ERP / Advanced Planning Tools: SAP S4 HANA & SAP-IBP knowledge preferred
  • Procurement Process Mapping (e.g., BPMN): Visualizing workflows for sourcing, approvals, and PO creation.
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Using tools like UiPath or Automation Anywhere to streamline repetitive tasks like invoice matching or supplier onboarding.
  • Contract Analytics: Leveraging AI tools to extract clauses, flag risks, and benchmark terms across agreements.
