Process Planning Engineer
- Support the Repair Development for aero engine components
Role Description
Typical Activities expected to be performed by Process Planning Engineer:
- Analyzing part requirements to determine the most efficient manufacturing sequence.
- Selecting appropriate machinery, tools, and equipment for production.
- Developing and documenting comprehensive process plans to ensure manufacturability.
- Collaborating with other teams, such as quality and design, to ensure goals are met.
- Identifying and eliminating waste, defects, and variation in the production process.
- Using tools like process mapping, simulation, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Drive the creation and refinement of robust repair processes for specific Aero Engine Components.
- Lead the design of essential tooling and inspection aids, and create all required manufacturing documentation (routers, data cards, process instructions).
- Analyse repair requirements to plan the details of facility/machines/consumables required to perform the repairs
- Analyse the cost of facility/machines/consumables
- Repair business case assessment
- Development of Repair Schemes designs, engine manuals (Cleaning and Inspection chapter), Special Process Manuals, and the Overhaul process.
- Lead all First Article Inspection (FAI) demonstrations, ensuring strict compliance with AS9102, AS13000, and the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM's) specific Supplier Approval Board Review (SABRe) Guideline for suppliers
Essential Skills
A proactive, energetic individual with:
- In-depth knowledge of gas turbine engines, engine components and their function during engine operation
- In-depth knowledge of working of various engine systems e.g. oil, fuel, air, bleed etc.
- Knowledge of various inspection methods including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques
- Good technical understanding of processes such as heat treatment, thermal spray, glass bead & shot peening, arc welding, Wide Gap brazing, and machining.
- Knowledge of various types of repairs which can be applied to components
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application in tool/fixture design for repair
- Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques and their application during component repair.
- Good hands on experience in using MS Office ( Word, Excel, Power Point and similar tools)
- Experience with Nozzle Guide Vanes and Stator Vanes repair is highly valued.
Desired Skills
- Experience in engine assembly/ disassembly and build shop
- Knowledge of Gas Turbine engines and their functioning
- Knowledge on engine component repairs, especially on the special processes
- Experience working in an MRO shop and exposure to machines and facilities used for repairs
Desired Education
- B.E. (Mech/ Aero)/ AME (Mech)
Experience
- 8 to 10 Years of hands on experience (post qualification) on aeroengines in Airlines/ Aerospace & Defence or related organizations
