Process Mechanical Engineer

Principal Process Mechanical Design Engineer

This role requires a deep understanding of process mechanical design, project lifecycle execution, cross-functional coordination, and client-facing communication. The candidate will be instrumental in driving innovation, efficiency, and quality across projects, acting as both a technical authority and a project design lead.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design

  for pharmaceutical and life science facilities, covering:
• Clean utilities (WFI, PW, Clean Steam, Process Air, Nitrogen, etc.)
  
• Process piping systems
  
• HVAC interfaces with process equipment
  
• Equipment layout, selection, and integration
  

• Review and approve

  mechanical deliverables including:
• P&IDs, equipment datasheets, piping layouts, isometrics, and BOQs
  
• 3D models (BIM/Revit/Plant3D/Navisworks, etc.)
  
• Calculation sheets and design basis reports
  
• Ensure designs meet

  regulatory and quality standards

  including cGMP, ISPE, FDA, EMA, and other regional/national codes (ASME BPE, IS 1239/3589, etc.)
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams: Process, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Validation & CQV
  
• Participate in

  HAZOPs, design reviews (3D model reviews), FAT/SAT, and risk assessments

• Provide

  technical leadership

  and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
• Interface with

  clients, vendors, and contractors

  to resolve technical queries and ensure project alignment
• Support in

  project estimation, scheduling, and resource planning

• Ensure

  value engineering

  without compromising on quality or compliance
• Actively contribute to

  continuous improvement

  , standardization, and knowledge sharing

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in

  process mechanical systems

  in regulated environments
• Proficiency in tools like

  AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or E3D

• Sound knowledge of

  piping material specifications

  , stress analysis, support design, and equipment integration
• Excellent understanding of

  engineering documentation

  and workflows
• Strong communication and leadership skills
  
• Ability to lead

  design teams

  , review deliverables, and interface with stakeholders
• Familiarity with

  project management methodologies

  (preferred but not mandatory)
