Description
As a Pressure Relief Engineering Specialist at bp Technical Solutions India (TSI) centre in Pune, your primary responsibility will be to provide expert engineering support to projects and operations related to pressure relief systems. You will work closely with various teams and contractors to resolve technical issues, set engineering practices, and drive solutions focusing on risk management, operational efficiency, and standardization. Your role will involve supporting continuous improvement efforts to reduce pressure relief device demands and incidents, participating in projects and technical inquiries, reviewing and approving pressure relief calculation files, and ensuring technical compliance of site pressure relief devices and disposal systems by external contractors/vendors. Additionally, you will prioritize and assess gaps in relief protection systems, support management of change (MOC) for pressure relief changes, troubleshoot operational issues, participate in investigations and root cause analysis, and maintain technical documentation related to pressure relief valves and flare disposal systems. To be successful in this role, you must hold a degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent and have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry. Preferred qualifications include being a Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer. You should have expertise in Flare and Relief calculations, process engineering, risk management, and project technical management. Proficiency in English and familiarity with industry standards is essential. Your ability to establish strong relationships, influence senior leadership, work collaboratively across global teams, and lead multi-functional engineering improvements will be crucial. While experience in oil and gas processing, process modeling, and contractor performance management is preferred, you should also demonstrate a commitment to project excellence, continuous learning, and pragmatic decision-making.
