Role Description

Prior Authorization Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance carriers for medical procedures and services.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments or treatments.
• Coordinate with providers, payers, and patients to resolve authorization-related issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the billing system.
• Ensure compliance with payer policies and HIPAA regulations.
• Support billing and coding teams by providing timely authorization details.

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of experience in Prior Authorization within the RCM process.
• Strong knowledge of payer guidelines and medical terminology.
• Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
• Experience with EHR/EMR and billing systems preferred.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
