Job Description

Responsibilities

Improve the performance of existing software, maintain, upgrade/migrate existing application/services as needed.
Expertise in Software Development, Software Architecture and Design & provide guidance to the team on solutions to issues/problems faced.
Be a catalyst for Application Architects, Systems Engineers, DevOps/SRE and all roles to evaluate and deliver engineering efforts across Morningstar.
Monitor apps in production using various tools like New Relic, Splunk, AppDynamics etc. & investigating software-related complaints and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal software performance.
Advocate/enforce best practices for performance, reliability, scalability, security, and reusability at a global scale by recommending new technologies that can help increase productivity.
Evangelize successful approaches as well as lessons learned to increase the engineering organization’s ability to learn and adapt to changing requirements
Provide technical guidance to harmonize and ensure the consistency of all engineering efforts for products and solutions with an eye towards creating paved roads
Facilitate discussions and resolve conflicts involving technical approaches, designs, and tradeoffs - especially drawing from lessons learned.
Collaborate with groups throughout Morningstar to proactively identify and manage dependencies. Provide holistic oversight of software development and product architecture especially at the integration points.
Regularly attending team meetings to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to any issues. Collaboration with global team members across various locations.
Supervising and overseeing the technical aspects of projects by creating and overseeing project timelines, tasks/responsibilities, and deliverables.
Stay up to date on emerging technologies and be a mentor to the junior team members.

Requirements

A minimum of 10+ years of experience with a software development practice.
Hands on development experience using Python using FAST or other MVC frameworks is must.
Hands on experience of using Python best practices & libraries is must.
Hands on experience with AWS services including exploration, adoption & deployment is must.
Hands on experience using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Harness etc. is must.
Hands on experience in DevOps skills & processes is a must.
Hands on experience using database like RDS & NoSQL is must.
Hands on experience in .net or java or JavaScript frameworks like Angular/VueJS/ReactJS is a big plus
Hands on experience in AI technologies is big plus
Strong knowledge of software development processes and methodologies, including Agile and Scrum methods
Excellent understanding of Source Control tools preferably Git
Strong problem-solving skill is required
Experience managing technical projects/tasks and tech teams
Understanding of protecting technology applications from common security vulnerabilities is must
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or an engineering field; a graduate degree is strongly preferred
