Principal Piping Stress Engineer

Summary of the Position

Leading the Stress Team by supporting and coordinating Stress Engineers to perform stress analysis of piping lines associated with static and rotating equipment, air coolers, heaters, and related systems. Responsibilities include using CAESAR II software to locate, design, and model supports for various piping systems and to perform the required engineering calculations.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities of the Role

• Strong stress analysis concepts, and be able to solve critical stress and nozzle load issues
  
• Strong piping support design concepts
  
• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision and work effectively as a team member on all assignments
  
• Familiar with ASME, API and other industry-related standards
  
• Calculate and estimate piping loads on piping racks, structures, vessels & platforms
  
• Create line stress analysis isometrics including all required data for support definition
  
• Calculate and select variable and constant spring hangers
  
• Knowledge of pipe support, including use of snubbers, rigid struts, spring sway braces
  
• Prepare requisition for Inquiry/Purchase and Technical tabulation of piping support elements, etc.
  
• Prepare piping stress analysis reports considering project specifications
  
• Perform drawings by using 2D CAD software for non-standard supports
  
• Selection of fireproofing on equipment
  
• Knowledge of material and piping codes/standards
  
• Knowledge in pipe support detail drawings and layout drawings
  
• Design experience in pipe stress, pipe support and pipe layout
  
• Coordinate with Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation groups to ensure design suits all those departments
  
• Collaborate with Support/Piping Leads for optimal design
  
• Have a cooperative working attitude
  
• Experienced in Piping Design as per ASME Standards
  
• Experience in vendor drawing reviews and providing comments if any
  
• Knowledge on plot plans, nozzle orientation, platform drawings, structure details and GADs
